Energy Star

The Energy Star program was created by the EPA in the early 90's as a way to encourage
businesses to manufacture products that consume less energy.
As more than 20% of the nations energy consumption is from residential housing, the
EPA created the Energy Star for New Homes program in 1995, following the standard for other
Energy Star programs, an energy star home was required to be 30% more energy-efficient than
the 1993 Model Energy Code standards. In 2006 the EPA revised the program, raising the standard
to 15% better than the 2004 IRC and adding the Thermal Bypass Checklist as part of the inspection process.
DR Wastchak has been inspecting homes for the Energy Star for New Homes program since 1999,
and have certified over 50,000 Arizona homes since that time.
ENERGY STAR qualified products and practices help you save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. EPA and U.S. DOE. The ENERGY STAR label
designates superior energy performance in homes and buildings.
